Celebrity fandom has morphed into a barbarous on-line tool, with superfan gangs – Beyonce’s Beyhive, Justin Bieber’s Beliebers, Cardi B’s Bardi Gang, to name a few – attacking whenever their idol’s repute is thrown into question, no topic the circumstances.
And when celebrities face accusations of dangerous crimes, as is the event with Jackson, psychiatrist Sue Varma said the recommend to push rear grows.
The phenomenon stems from a “need to have an escape, a fantasy, person we aspire to be”, she said.
“It’s a kind of denial,” according to Varma. “They are superhuman and we want – rather, we motivation – to believe that they can do no wrong.”

“TOXIC FANDOM”
Superfandom – a kinship to a figure, aim or political_orientation that frequently spills over into compulsion – is nothing new, said media learner Paul Booth of Chicago’s DePaul University, but sociable media has increased its visibility.
