Time Will Tell How Much I Love You

Time Will Tell How Much I Love You

By G.P. Avants

Dr. Stephen Strange was a man of means. He had everything a rock and roll living genuine brain surgeon needed. Unfortunately, he also had an ego that often got him in trouble pretty much all the time. The good doctor never valued time or people as important in his life. He has memories that had some hollowness to them.

Through unforeseen circumstances,  Stephen Strange loses everything he holds dear in his hands.,  In his sorrow and loss he pushed everyone away especially the one person who loves him. So, the doctor stares at a watch that bears the inscription:

“Time will tell how much I love you”

This becomes the only thing of value that he has left. He takes it into his self-imposed exile high into the Himalayas where time takes on a new meaning for Stephen. The Doctor soon learns that time is something that we all have to manage wisely.  The hands that once made him a world-renown surgeon and the  ones on his wrist watch have both come to screeching halt. The time he once spent so flippantly now has become a precious jewel in his scarred hands. When Dr. Strange learns to use time as a tool and not a toy, he finally understands how precious the people who inhabit time with him are. The ego that often became a rock in his heart, was replaced by a deeper more lasting self-sacrificing humility.

Watching him study his broken wrist watch really spoke to me. Time is a temporary and fragile commodity. We all have a limited and set amount to use wisely during our short time on Earth. How am I good manager of my time?  Life is too short to waste even a second.  Slow down and enjoy those moments before they become nothing more than lingering memories.
